The required practices for resilient and effective 21st century art organizations and philanthropists

Acutely listening to audiences. Clarifying the narrative. Storytelling honestly. Clearly articulating the need. Authentically determining and describing social impact. Investing in community building. Fostering holistic diversity and access.

These are required practices for resilient and effective 21st century art organizations and philanthropists.

Organizations, ask these questions in 2022: Have we honestly evaluated, and are we clearly communicating, our relevance? Who are we serving? Are we deeply listening to our audience? How are we advancing social impact? Are we accountable to all of our communities?

Arts philanthropists, ask yourselves: What is the impact and legacy I wish to create? How could I advance change uniquely through the arts? How do I best support artists who help us reflect on our humanity, and creative entrepreneurs who show us pathways for social change? How could I develop innovative models of funding, and bring that to organizations, collectives, and art start ups?

I am honored to partner with a diverse group of international arts organizations and philanthropists in this critical work of strategic re-envisioning and philanthropic planning to model what a 21st century art organization and donor can be.
